I had adopted Chloe as a rescue. She has been an ideal dog (except for 1 thing) - gets along with the other 2 and plays like crazy with our Dutch Shepherd, who desperately needed a playmate because our other dog, at 11, is getting slow and needs more rest time.

She is obedient, affectionate, a real sweetie.

Chloe is also a fence jumper. Just a couple days after getting her, we had to go to the humane society here to get her back. That's when I went on-line to find any previous reference to her in the pet rescue pages for places that list multiple site rescues as well at that shelter. The listings had been taken down, but I did manage to find a couple archived, and discovered she was listed as having been adopted from the shelter as a pup, then given back to the shelter nearly a year later because of jumping and habitually roaming her neighborhood. The rescue shelter knew that, and did not disclose. Had we known, I would not have adopted her; but the gods & goddesses were smiling and we found a solution that was not in existence long ago when we had had that issue with another dog.

It is heartbreaking, but one feels so helpless when a dog is a fence jumper - you cannot afford to risk her causing an accident, possibly harming others, as well as her own injury/death. Confirmed, habitual jumpers are very difficult to break, and I don't consider a chain/rope acceptable due to the risks inherent - we did have a dog who was strangled nearly 30 years ago - that is an experience I would never wish on even my worst enemy. When you look up solutions, they usually boil down to: get a higher fence (not possible, ours was at the top height allowed), put them on a line, or always have them with you on a leash when they go out. We work, and cannot easily come home at lunch to take them out - so, for same reason, a crate does not work: 4 hours is the maximum considered medically safe for frequent use, so the length of time we're gone at work for the day would prohibit the safe medical limits. Plus, what a hell of a life for a dog, to be crated 9+ hours daily!!!

It could have been a deal breaker, but we discovered www.coyoteroller.com on the net, and I believe that saved her life - it definitely is what allowed us to keep her!!

This coyoteroller worked like a charm - and was relatively quick and easy to install on top of our existing fence. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would not have to give up / find another home for their dog if they only knew about this product. I'm so glad I found it, and I seriously consider it a life-saver.

Again, the site: www.coyoteroller.com

If you know anyone with this tough problem, pass the word. It sure beat the other option we were considering - putting up L brackets and running wires along the inside fencetops, thus making us look like the neighborhood survivalists.

Bob, I received the coyote rollers from UPS yesterday afternoon about 6:00pm. I started after lunch today and it took me 5 hours to install the entire 180 feet and make the cuts for the gate and corners. This system is amazing how easy it is to install. I also took your advise and put Vaseline on all the pin to make the rollers roll a little bit easier. I cannot believe how easy this was to install. Thanks for all the help. Regards, Cecil Whitlock
